A few dozen hearty volunteers joined the Friends on Saturday, August 8th, for our annual It’s My Park Day cleanup with Partnership for Parks. More than 30 neighbors showed up to rake, sweep, collect garbage, and drag large fallen branches down the hill. Even Borough President Gale Brewer stopped by to lend a hand. Volunteers wore masks and gloves, and practiced social distancing.
We were lucky that IMP Day was scheduled so close to Tuesday 8/4, when Hurricane Isaias walloped the park’s trees, uprooting some and damaging others. The Parks Department is still working on tree pruning and removals, and some areas of the park remain roped off. Please exercise caution during your next visit!
We hope to see you at the next clean-up, scheduled for Sunday, August 23 at 10AM.
